This newsreel uses similar footage to that seen in the Dublin War Scenes newsreel where we see the devastating destruction of Sackville Street (now O’Connell Street) during the Civil War. It highlights the events that happened in Dublin during the Civil War from June 28th to July 5th, and the devastating use of artillery by the rebels. ‘£3,000,000’ worth of damage was inflicted on the city centre’s iconic landmarks, from the Four Courts to the GPO, to entire buildings on Dublin’s main thoroughfare being completely blown up and gutted by fire bombs.
